How to Wear Rudrakshas?

How to wear Rudrakshas?

Rudrakshas can either be strung together with silk/cotton thread or can be capped with silver/gold and made into a bracelet or a pendant. However, depending upon the property of the Rudraksha and the Chakra that each Rudraksha works upon, they must be worn on specific parts of the body to yield best results.

A few Do’s and Don’ts:

  1. If one wants to wear a Rudraksha mala, all the Rudrakshas in the mala should be of the same type (eg., 5 mukhi Rudraksha mala, 6 mukhi Rudraksha mala etc).
  2. The number of Rudrakshas in a mala should be 27+1, 54+1 or 108+1. The +1 is the bead called “Sumeru” – this is a prominent bead which represents the central position of the rosary. The Sumeru bead transmits the energy of the complete “circuit” formed by the mala to the wearer. The Sumeru bead should always be worn towards the front of the body and not behind the neck.
  3. One should either wear an entire mala of a specific Rudraksha type or should wear a single bead of that type.

  4. If one is wearing a mala, then a single bead of the same type should not be worn.

  5. More than one bead of the same type should also not be worn because it breaks the circuit that a Rudraksha forms in one’s body.Every bead of Rudraksha has individual properties that enable them to treat specific chakras in your body. Hence wearing them close to the chakra is most beneficial.
